Eagle Telemedicine continues as an industry pioneering virtual doctor company, providing quality inpatient care demonstrated by more than 15K admissions & 20K plus inpatient encounters yearly.
You might have seen the recent news that the hospitalist practices of Eagle Hospital Physicians have joined Sound Inpatient Physicians effective Mar. 1, 2017. What does it mean for Eagle Telemedicine? Without the responsibility of managing those hospitalist practices, the leadership at Eagle can now focus resources on the continued expansion of our telemedicine practices—and continued leadership in the rapidly evolving field of telemedicine.
Why the focus on telemedicine? Because that is the where we feel we can make the biggest difference: to hospitals, to patients, and to communities. When we founded Eagle Telemedicine in 2008, we were well aware of the need for a new way to reach the underserved in rural areas especially hard hit by the physician shortage and geographic maldistribution of doctors. We also saw the growth potential in using telemedicine technology to bring access to world-class cardiologists, neurologists, intensivists, and other specialists to anyone, regardless of whether they live in New York City; Newton, Kan.; or Enid, Okla.
Virtual Doctor Company Focused on Greatest Need
Telehealth growth projections have risen dramatically since those early years. And so, we are choosing to focus on that side of our business because we know it is where we can make the biggest impact. Providing TeleStroke care can make the difference between a stroke patient walking out of the hospital the next day, or spending the rest of his or her life in a nursing home. In the ICU, recent evidence suggests that providing intensive care specialists through telemedicine can reduce ICU mortality rates by 15 to 30 percent, and help hospitals meet the strict Leapfrog standards for staffing in ICUs.
The list of benefits goes on and on. Telemedicine is an innovative way to bring the specialist to the patient, rather than having to transport the patient to the specialist. Keeping patients in house not only provides quality of care improvement for the patient and peace of mind for family members, but also creates pathways for hospitals to improve their financial security.
Meeting the ever-changing needs of hospitals
Eagle Telemedicine continues to be a pioneer in the industry, providing quality care demonstrated by more than 15,000 patient admissions and upward of 20,000 inpatient care encounters annually. We have fine-tuned our telehealth model of care, adapting them to meet the ever-changing needs of hospitals of all sizes―delivering critical night shift solutions that help rural and metropolitan hospitals meet the challenges of nighttime coverage and reduce stress, burnout, and attrition.
Today, we continue to receive enormous interest in our services from hospitals across the country—not only as the result of a compounding physician shortage, but also due to the need for all hospitals to enhance patient care through broader service offerings. As a company, we are excited about the future of telemedicine, the opportunity to continue helping hospitals augment coverage and increase services to their communities―and most of all, improve patient care. We hope you share in our excitement at this huge step forward for Eagle Telemedicine.
